This day-long tribute to the contemporary Australian composer Brett Dean kicks off at 11am in the Mozart Room with Dean in conversation, plus a performance by the composer of his 'Intimate Decisions' for solo viola.
At 1pm the Guildhall Chamber Ensemble performs the composer's 'Polysomnography', 'Wolf-Lieder' (with Dean as conductor) and 'Voices of Angels'.
In The Pit at 3pm there is a screening of Opera Australia's production of 'Bliss', Dean's opera based on Peter Carey's novel of the same name.
At 6pm there is another conversation with Dean in The Pit, plus a screening from the 2010 BBC Proms of the Australian Youth Orchestra's performance of 'Amphitheatre'. At 7pm musicians from the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama perform new works by students from the Guildhall.
Then, at 8pm, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Singers under David Robertson, with violinist Renaud Capuçon, perform Dean's 'Testament', and three UK premieres - 'The Lost Art of Letter Writing', 'Carlo' (revised version) and 'Fire Music' (a BBC co-commission).
