Raymond Gubbay and the Royal Albert Hall present an in-the-round production of Verdi's tale set in Ancient Egypt. Exploring the devastating consequences of a classic love triangle between the eponymous Ethiopian slave girl, the King's daughter, Amneris, and Captain of the Guard, Radames, the opera can only end in tragedy. Starring Claire Rutter, Chiara Taigi and Catrin Aur (who share the title role); Marc Heller, Joseph Wolverton and Jonathan Stoughton (Radames); Tiziana Carraro, Liuba Sokolova and Antonia Sotgiu (Amneris). The director is Stephen Medcalf, with designs by Isabella Bywater. Andrew Greenwood conducts the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra; lighting design by Andrew Bridge and sound design by Bobby Aitken. (Sung in Italian, with English surtitles.)
