The Night Shift throws out formal concert etiquette and offers a relaxed night out, where the audience are free to clap, cough, chat, clatter, and consume alcohol. Barriers are broken down between players and audience as conductor and orchestra talk from the stage, offering insight into the music and a true sense of intimacy and involvement with the performance. At 7.30pm, live music from the Roundhouse Music Collective; then, at 9pm, the 90-strong Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment under Sir Mark Elder gives a relaxed concert, featuring extracts from Berlioz's 'Romeo and Juliet' (presented from the stage, Alistair Appleton). From 10pm, more music from the Roundhouse Music Collective until late
