Susanna Mälkki conducts the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra in a programme containing two works by Messiaen separated by more than 50 years – his 'La Ville d'en Haut' for piano and orchestra, and 'L'Ascension – Four symphonic meditations'. Also, a new piece by the Canadian composer Chris Mayo, and 'La Péri' by Messiaen's relentlessly self-critical teacher Paul Dukas.
