The SkyArts season at ENO continues with Richard Strauss' sumptuous masterpiece set in eighteenth-century Vienna, about the young Knight of the Rose sent to woo on behalf of an ageing baron. A starry cast includes Janice Watson (Feldmarchallin), Sarah Connolly (Octavian) and John Tomlinson (Baron Ochs). The director is David McVicar; Ed Gardner conducts.

Just got back from Rosenkavalier. One of the best productions I have ever seen - cast and orchestra performed as one and production and direction just superb. The only negative comment was the unfortunately noisy steps on the wooden floor of the stage and the banging door on exit during those final exquisite notes of the opera ruined them. But well done everybody - a memorable evening at ENO.
