David Fanshawe is a composer, explorer and a researcher into the indigenous music of Africa, the Middle East and the Pacific Islands. His
'African Sanctus' was composed following journeys up the Nile during 1969-73. It combines the Latin Mass and Lord's Prayer, and is performed by a soloist and the Lewisham Choral Society, with taped music from Egypt, Sudan and Kenya.
