- Deep in dingiest Dalston lies a night that will make your blood boil to its golden-era NYC disco, Italo and bitchy house thumpers. The brilliant but unrecognisable soundtrack will force you to hang over the DJ box trying to catch a glimpse of every dusty vinyl cover. As nu-disco DJ Nadia Ksaiba puts it: ‘You can just fall in love with every song.’
The club takes its name from Manhattan club kid Michael Alig’s book on James St James’ murder, so you can imagine the look the DB boys, Ben Pistor, Damon Martin and Dan Beaumont, are going for. A blinding mix of putrid pink walls, footloose, polysexual hipshakers and a edgy venue (watch out for that smokers-to-muggers ratio once outdoors), the monthly Disco Bloodbath is a haven for unpretentious gays, DJs needing some fresh ideas and punters who don’t mind ‘the worst wine in the western hemisphere’ according to club photographer Darrell Berry.
Up to now it’s been mostly a local and insiders’ hangout, but the international names like Richard Sen (Padded Cell) and Lovefingers (Black Disco) who come to share their forgotten re-edits on the shabby soundsystem are encouraging more and more disco fans to brave the umpteen night buses for each party.
This weekend looks to be their biggest yet as DJ Tako from Rotterdam's forward-thinking online radio station and mega blog cbs.nu (check it out: it’s nuts) joins the dots between ‘rough, emotional and deep’ electronic music. Don your sequins (or your grillz) and fight your way in!

Sorry to be pedantic but the
book Disco Bloodbath was written by James St James about a murder committed by Michael Alig. James St James is still very much alive and doing turns on America's Next Top Model. Alig is in prison. And this club night is very good (as is the book).
Best night in town, those boys deserve to go far. It will be packed on Saturday so get there early!!
