In a tribute to Fela Kuti and the sound of Afrobeat, Spanish DJ Floro combines reworkings of classics with electronic funk and skittering beats to prove these rhythms are alive and jumping. There is Bwana's funky revamp of Al Green's 'Love Ritual' to Raw Deal's superb 'Afro Rainbow', Gecko Turner's '70s fly-style 'Afrobeatnik' which smacks of Fela Kuti, Thievery Corporation's ace 'The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter' and Bukky Leo's amazing cover of Timmy Thomas's 'Why Can't We Live Together'. It all adds up to one of the year’s best compilations.
