Rooftop parties in London
Dance on the ceiling this summer and find the capital's best rooftop shindigs
Crane your neck above Café Oto and you might spot this charming pop-up roof garden, which springs back into action for the season with a series of events organised by London promoters and champions of alternative beats, Soundcrash. Warm and cosy, with grow bags and solar panels in view and astroturf under foot, the Roof Park should be in full swing all summer.

This dull-looking building near London Fields, home to over 90 artist studios, plays host to some seriously vibrant nightlife. When there's not hundreds of sweaty ravers dancing their socks off in its warehouse space, Netil House's decking-clad rooftop offers superb views of the city. Throw in a bar, some music and the occasional open-air film screening and you've got yourself a superb summer nights venue.

A cool bar and club all year round, this Hoxton haunt takes the action onto their huge rooftop with a set of silent but deadly monthly parties. Titled ‘Headphone Holiday’, these are daytime affairs that use silent-disco headphones to beam the soulful, house-to-disco sounds of DJs like Ashley Beedle and Carnival hero Norman Jay MBE straight into your lugholes. Displaying some old-fashioned British pluck, they’ll be going ahead come rain or shine too.

A chance to add some swank to your skank. This high-end City hotel has been coming into its own this season, thanks to parties like the weekly 1-2-3-4 shindigs – a feast of fashionable DJs and dancers that requires an email to
email@example.com for entry. Look out for XOYO Loves too – a series of day-into-night parties held in conjunction with the Shoreditch club.

It’s a long way to the top – around 175 metres, straight up the side of the Heron Tower, the City’s tallest building. Yet you can reach this in just a few exhilarating seconds in a glass lift that gives you amazing panoramic, if vertiginous, views. Head up to Nightcloud, Sushisambas weekly session of deep house, funky disco and hip hop and party with a vista.

Known until recently as the Brixton Clubhouse, one of London’s sweetest rooftop venues goes from strength to strength as it relaunches this summer as The Lambeth – having joined forces with The Prince pub downstairs. The banked, multi-tiered roof terrace remains its centrepiece, which, combined with a great booking policy, makes it one of the best destinations for summer fun.
