DJ Shadow

Most DJs encounter chumps who ask ‘oi mate, got any Rihanna?’. It happens to the best of them, as DJ Shadow found out recently when his set in Miami was cut short by a promoter who didn’t think the turntablist supremo was playing enough commercial music.

It was a cruel indignity for a man who reinvented hip hop in the ’90s with his seminal ‘Endtroducing...’ LP. Thankfully, London is not Miami. The San Franciscan brings his ‘All Bases Covered’ tour to Fabric this Friday, joined by a line-up that reflects the ongoing, synth-aided evolution of hip hop: LA’s Kutmah and London’s Om Unit in particular. Let’s just hope nobody utters the words ‘Club Tropicana’ near the booth.

  1. Fabric 77a Charterhouse St, EC1M 3HN
  2. Fri Jul 18
