Most DJs encounter chumps who ask ‘oi mate, got any Rihanna?’. It happens to the best of them, as DJ Shadow found out recently when his set in Miami was cut short by a promoter who didn’t think the turntablist supremo was playing enough commercial music.
It was a cruel indignity for a man who reinvented hip hop in the ’90s with his seminal ‘Endtroducing...’ LP. Thankfully, London is not Miami.
