Advertising free pool and Carlsberg at £2 a pint before 10pm, Catch does its best to keep in the riff-raff, preferring to let the bohos, musos and pseuds waste away their existence in the Pragues and Dreambagsjaguarshoes of this world.
Thus, unpretentious couples and groups randomly fill the five booths that line the narrow space opposite the bar counter, upon which taps of Budvar, Bitburger and Grolsch (and behind which bottles of Tiger, Beck's and Peroni) help fuel conversation.
At the back of the room is the pool table in question, red-topped and squeezed into a small space by the toilets. Between the bar area and the front door is a staircase leading to a seemingly tinier space where bands or DJs let loose most nights.
