The long-established and ever-popular Plastic People subscribed to the old-school line that all you need for a kicking party is a dark basement and a sound system - then surprised everyone last year by closing for a refurb. The programming remains true to form: deep techno to house, all-girl DJ line-ups and many a star DJ squeezing through the doors for a secret gig.
