The lack of a worthwhile clubbing scene in and around W11 remains a great London mystery, but Notting Hillbillies at least have this venerable basement institution to keep them off the streets after dark. It's not much to look at, and no amount of wall decoration can disguise the fact that the bare-bones design aesthetic is both dated and almost comically anti-intimate.
Happily, the programme of events is good enough to distract from the decorative shortcomings, taking in everything from Funk Royale (one of four alternating Friday club nights) to Alan McGee's indie-rocking Death Disco (Wednesdays). Drinks-wise, there are cocktails alongside wine and beer.
