  • Comic Relief: The Big One

  • By Time Out editors

  • BBC1‘s night of comedy-inspired fundraising returns with eight hours of the brightest lights of British comedy doing their bit for causes around the world.

  • As usual, the format is well-known comic characters humiliating real celebrities, so we get Catherine Tate’s Lauren’s new teacher David Tennant, and Lucas and Walliams sharing the stage during their never-ending tour with the likes of Kate Moss, Patsy Kensit, Jonathan Ross and Dennis Waterman. Mr Bean is a guest at the wedding of Matthew Macfadyen and Michelle Ryan, there’s a very last appearance from the Vicar of Dibley on ‘Celebrity Wife Swap’, and Peter Kay and Ricky Gervais make appearances as you’ve never seen them before. With such A-listers involved, there isn’t the feeling (as with ‘Children In Need’) that they are really doing it just for the exposure. The focus tonight will right be on raising money, not profiles.

Comic Relief: The Big One, BBC1, Friday March 16, 7pm-10pm; 10.35pm-3.05am Feature continues
