Diane Chorley: Duchess of Canvey

Character comedy. Musical comedy.

Looking for a taste of Essex in Edinburgh? No? Well, head to Diane Chorley’s show anyway. This ex-con and former Essex nightclub-owner sings heartfelt ballads and recounts the story of her club’s ’80s heyday (before things all went spectacularly wrong). This is her comeback gig, backed by her band The Buffet, and it’s a party you won’t want to miss.

10.30pm. Underbelly Potterrow.

Pat Cahill: Panjandrum

Stand-up. Musical comedy. Free.

If we had to be trapped in an underground bunker with any comedian (big ‘if’) we would choose Pat Cahill. Strangely enough, that’s exactly what happens in Cahill’s new show. The upbeat worrier has turned wartime entertainer, donning an ‘old man’s helmet’ to perform music hall-esque songs.

6.40pm, Heroes @ The Hive.

Phil Nichol’s Cray Cray Cabaret

Musical comedy.

Chaotic, late night fun from guitar-wielding Canadian comic Phil Nichol. The award-winning stand-up – alongside sidekick Bec Hill and Nashville house band Good Company – introduce a different bunch of Fringe favourites and musical guests each night at this variety gig.

11.10pm, The Assembly Rooms.

Puddles Pity Party

Puddles Pity Party

Musical comedy.

Glum pop covers sang by a 6'8" clown. Simple as that. Puddles has been part of the ‘La Soiree!’ gang on the South Bank, has over 20 million hits on YouTube, and now he’s bringing his smooth baritone and pom-pommed clown costume to Edinburgh.

7.25pm, Assembly George Square Gardens.
