The famous Russian company performs George Balanchine's triple bill 'Jewels' from 1967, three abstract pieces inspired by the brilliant sparkle of precious gems (or at least the dancers' costumes are). The first piece, 'Emeralds', is set to the romantic strains of Fauré, the second, 'Rubies', is danced to jazzy Stravinsky, and the finale, 'Diamonds', is an ode to Imperial Russia with a Tchaikovsky score.
