Possibly the best ballet company in the world, the company formerly known as the Kirov lands in London for a brief summer visit. Although the Mariinsky is much lauded for its tradition, heritage and pure interpretation of the classics, like the Sergeyev staging of 'Sleeping Beauty' (Aug 14-15), you can see some slightly more modern dancing in the shape of a Balanchine triple bill (Aug 12-13), featuring 'Serenade', 'Symphony in C' and showstopper 'Rubies'.
