A debut at Sadler's Wells for the Mariinsky (aka the Kirov), quite possibly the world's best ballet company. Although steeped in tradition, the company have recently embraced modern ballet, and this visit should show off just what they've achieved. First up is an all-Forsythe programme featuring the choreographer's best known extreme-ballets, including Steptext and the Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude. The second programme features Balanchine classics Apollo and The Prodigal Son plus work from the Mariinksy's own Alexei Ratmansky.
