  • Channel 4 shines the spotlight on choreographer Russell Maliphant

  • 4Dance: Light and Movement
    As a prelude to the three pieces being shown immediatly after this, Channel 4 presents a documentary on the work of Russell Maliphant, a rising British choreographer whose collaborative relationship with lighting designer Michael Hull has resulted in stunning new dance works.

    7.10-7.40pm Saturday 27th May Channel 4

    4Dance: Rise and Fall
    Ex-Royal Ballet dancers William Trevitt and Michael Nunn, now better known as The Ballet Boyz, perform three new pieces choreographed by Russell Maliphant, two of which feature Sylvie Guillem. While the trio have danced 'Two', 'Torison' and 'Broken Fall' before, the films, shot specially for television, promise to add and extra dimension to the works.

    I would buy videos of any of Maliphant's work. Is ANY video out there?

    It is not yet available on DVD but I spoke to soemone at Channel 4 who said she would pass on message that there is a market for it.

    It was amazing- organic but very fluid and beautiful. Sylvie Guillem is going to be at Sadler's Wells from 13-17 Jume.
    I'm going to check it out. Unfoutuately for students you cant buy the concession tickets online so you have to get down there and buy at the desk- King's Cross and Euston are the nearest stations.

    I missed the 4dance on Saturday despite setting reminders on my phone, diary etc...! Typical, was wondering I could purchase it on dvd? Hope so!
