Live from London and beyond, this show will document numerous attempts to break world records in dance. While Russell Sargeant of the Jiving Lindy Hoppers will attempt to take the record for the most swing flips in a minute, breakdancer Paul Steadman will attempt to break his existing world record of 40 windmills in a minute. Then the Big Dance Class will see over 700 dancers representing 45 different genres performing simultaneously to the same piece of music. At least, we hope they’ll be performing simultaneously – wouldn’t like to be the one to make the wrong step, would you? If you like a bit of hot-footed action, this could be vaguely entertaining, although there’s bound to be a lot of waffle with Zoe Ball and Bruce Forsyth presenting. They’ve also, naturally, managed to make further links with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, as Anton du Beke hosts a Ballroom Blitz, where up and coming dancers will be partnered with some ‘Strictly…’ regulars. So: cheesy Saturday night telly on the one hand, but at least the record attempts should bring a bit of suspense into the equation. And it doesn’t go on for 20 weeks, which is always a bonus.
