The Place's annual festival of new dance is back for another round, with 81 new works spread over six weeks, three pieces a night. It's a complete lottery, ranging from college graduation projects to pro dancers from big companies showcasing their own choreography. Quality is variable but there are always a few gems. The work is predominantly from the contemporary sphere but the season also takes in hip hop, flamenco, tango and a good deal of unclassifiable performance. Potential highlights are solos from two dancers with Wayne McGregor's Random Dance company, Paolo Mangiola and Bejamin Ord (Jan 18), new work from Karima El Amrani of Hofesh Shechter Company (Jan 22) and some gentle comedy from hip hop talent Ivan Blackstock (Feb 8).
