Phil Jupitus, awards host: 'The London restaurant scene has been growing. The range of different cuisine and prices impresses me. There is such an interest in the public in experiencing new flavours and tastes. London can definitely compete with New York. It’s nice to show the range of what’s available in London.'

'Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant empire has suffered another blow after his new gastropub was passed over for a major prize. The Narrow, which opened in Limehouse in March, has been beaten to the title of Best Gastropub in the latest Time Out Eating & Drinking Awards.'

Cathy Phillips (co-editor of the Eating & Drinking Guide) is quoted as saying: 'The Narrow came the closest to beating the Rosendale but in terms of quality of food, service, all-round dining experience and an exceptional wine list the Rosendale had the edge.'

'The Time Out Eating & Drinking Awards, celebrating their 25th year, have proven a short-cut to success for winning venues over the years.'

    Daily Express, September 18

'Guests were treated to a double act after ex-EastEnder Martin Kemp forgot his specs. "I am supposed to be reading out the nominations but as I've left my glasses at home, I'm going to have to leave it to my wife," he grinned, as former Wham! backing singer Shirlie rattled off the list.'
