  • The tabernacle is a really nice place you will be charmed by it’s romanesque building and by it's ambiance. The Tabernacle propose a lot of activities as exhibitions, intimate gigs, dance courses, and others arts activities. It's also the main place where the notting hill carnival takes place. Tabernacle is also nice to family lunch. (the prices are not expensive for the quartier) or for a drink with friends. The staff will welcome you in a warm friendly atmosphere.

  • For food and drink amounting up to £15, this has got to be the single worst purchase I’ve ever made in London. When I say purchase, I’m not confining those words to solely hospitality purchases, I mean any expenditure in my yearly budget. We had lunch for 6 in a pub with nothing more than a couple coffee drinkers and one lady doing work on her laptop. Being an office group with differing orders, we naturally made our orders at the bar. The bartender (this is a very flattering title, I should say the hospitality worker most likely to have stoned disillusioned visions of stardom in the arts) proceeded to take orders one by one stopping in between each order to heat milk at the coffee machine by the shot glass. After taking a solid 15 minutes to take 6 average orders, I knew we weren’t going to get the sort of service that the price suggests. Eventually the food arrives for everyone except for one (you might’ve guessed by now that lucky soul was me!). As my colleagues finished their meals and politely placed their fork and knife together I took a look around to see if my food was even ready. There it was, a burger arranged perfectly and looking more inviting by the minute. After several shouts of “SERVICE!” from the kitchen, the “future Basquiat” (busy wiping down a glass of bloody mary that he made a mess of) puts his head up and proceeds to think about picking up the order. About 5 minutes later, the burger arrives in front of me as my colleagues are reduced to anxious spectators needing to return to the office. By this time, I’m ravenous and immediately tuck in. My “medium-rare” burger turns out to be a piece of black rubber that Silverstone would be proud of. I’m reluctant to complain to avoid being delayed further and as I walk out wholly unsatisfied, I start to think that the only circumstance I would return is if I had a bag full of money willing to relieve this beautiful venue from their current owners and giving it the business that the building deserves.

  • Went to this at the Tabernacle last night. Food - very plain, not worth the extra cash, not worth paying more than a tenna for . eg dessert small xmas cake (nothing else). Main very small pork on small mash nothing else. Performance - brilliant, great variety, well done. Best to eat and drink at the bar and then come up for the performances on their own (w/o food).
