Wimbledon may blossom during the tennis championship, but at any time of the year the town centre is the buzzing hub of Merton. Wimbledon Village brings a degree of countryside charm to this corner of south-west London and is filled with boutique shops and cafés. With a host of restaurants, bars and pubs and arguably the area's greatest asset Wimbledon Common – there is no better time to visit this prettily bucolic locale.

...I can't believe that the Canizaro park has been missed out....its an amazingly enchanting park next to Canizaro Hotel (which BTW is haunted) Mr Canizaro who loved his dogs so much he buried them in the ground with gravestones dedicated to his 'bitches'...summer time you can have champagne outside the hotel or make sure you book for afternoon tea.
The Village is fab for shopping - check out Matches and LK Bennet which started in Wimbledon before branshing out to other areas of London.
The Lighthouse is a great restaurant on the ridgeway as is my friend Cathy's deli next door...which is a must for lush home made organic lunches....
Make sure you walk to the windmill too....so many lovely things to do in Wimbledon that were missed off the list....
We've spent a really nice morning in Egg Benedict Caffe and the enjoyable experiencies followed each other. First the friendly and warm atmosphere fascinated us, then the next step was the beauty of the foods, then after the waitress brought us a highchair for our son. After these we've got the asked cakes and quiche. And knew that I have to taste the grilled vegetables as well! And I've tried them. Hmmm!!
The Chef is excellent!!! This quiche was my first in my life and I'm happy because the taste of the pasta was very similar than my Mom's one of the chef-d'oeuvres' taste. This morning (actually this advanture of these pleasant tastes) was a fairy birthday gift to me.
A few journalist friends were over from Switzerland for the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament a few months ago, they stayed in Southlands Drive in Wimbledon Park.
They were very impressed with K2 Indian takeaway in Wimbledon and were practically ordering from them 3-4 nights a week. The service was very friendly, food tasted great, delivered on time and piping hot! Lamb Xacutti and Chicken Phathia were the favourites.
