Comedy clubs in London

  • Amused Moose Soho

    17 Greek St, London, W1D 4DR

Hils Jago runs a tight ship at her multi-award winning Greek Street club. The bills here, every Saturday night, are reliably strong, featuring a mix of circuit stalwarts and exciting new talents. Plus, if you’re lucky, the likes of Noel Fielding or Simon Amstell may well drop by to try out new material…

  • Boat Show

Tattershall Castle, Kings Reach, Victoria Embankment, London, SW1A 2HR

The line-ups aboard this floating comedy club situated opposite the London Eye are consistently superb. Ticket prices are reasonable, and for those wishing to party into the small hours, a nightclub follows the comedy every Friday and Saturday at no extra charge.

  • Bush Hall Presents

    310 Uxbridge Road, London, W12 7LJ

  • Comedy Store

Comedy Store, 1A Oxendon Street, London, SW1Y 4EE

There’s no doubt about it, the Comedy Store is the daddy of all comedy clubs, and what most other gigs strive to be. Seemingly as old as London itself, the club has been instrumental in the growth of alternative comedy, and still to this day hosts stunning shows most nights of the week. Don’t miss the raucous King Gong on the last Monday of the month; the weekend bills are very rarely topped.

  • Fat Tuesday

    Compass, 58 Penton Street, London, N1 9PZ

Charming compere Tiernan Douieb previously ran this intimate Islington gig, establishing it as one of the most welcoming comedy clubs in London. It's now in the hands of Nish Kumar, and this tiny room above the Compass pub still hosts consistently brilliant line-ups, with wonderfully varied bills and headliners at the top of their game.
Fat Tuesday is will be back once they have a new venue

  • Feature Spot presents

    Feature Spot

The 100 Club, Oxford Street / The Tabernacle, 35 Powis Square

With gigs running at two of London’s most iconic venues – the 100 Club and the Tabernacle – you’ll often see Feature Spot’s comedy nights in our Critics’ Choice. Previous acts here include Russell Howard, Stephen Merchant, Adam Buxton and Tim Minchin. But whoever’s on the bill, you’re guaranteed an excellent show.
    Feature Spot returns soon.

  • Hampstead Comedy Club

    150 Gloucester Ave, NW1 8JA

Veteran comedian and promoter Ivor Dembina hosts this cosy, Saturday night comedy club a few minutes from Chalk Farm tube. Dembina puts the quality of the show over everything else, booking a mixture of well-established circuit comics, hotly tipped newbies and the occasional TV favourite.

  • Live at the Chapel

Union Chapel, Compton Terrace, London, N1 2XD

This monthly Islington comedy club undoubtedly provides the finest, most interesting line-ups in the capital. Taking over the gorgeous Union Chapel, the shows here are all killer, no filler, featuring the biggest names in comedy (Tim Minchin, Russell Howard, Simon Amstell, Noel Fielding and Frankie Boyle have all played) alongside supporting comics who are all headliners in their own right. Throw in a terrific live band, a tea-serving kiosk and a lot of swearing in a church, and you’ve got yourself one hell of a night out. Amen.

  • Soho Theatre

Soho Theatre, 21 Dean Street, London, W1D 3NE

Rather than multi-bill nights, the Soho Theatre programmes solo, hour-long shows from some of the finest comedy acts in the world. Across three performance spaces, the venue hosts London performances of Edinburgh Fringe hits, the best in international stand-up, and shows that are a little more theatrical than straight man-and-a-mic stand-up. To see the best in exciting, cutting-edge comedy, get yourself down to Soho.

  • Up The Creek

Up The Creek, 302 Creek Road, London, SE10 9SW

Once an absolute bear pit of a club, the atmosphere in Greenwich’s Up the Creek isn’t quite as raucous as it was in Malcolm Hardee’s day, but it’s still one of the most exciting weekend comedy clubs in London. Thursdays are a new-act showcase, reputable circuit talent play Fridays and Saturdays, and you’ll often see a famous face at the cheap, chilled and cheerful ‘Sunday Special’.

Have also had some great nights at Big Night Out Comedy at RUMBA in Piccadilly Circus and it doesn't break the bank.

Re Hampstead Comedy Club - Time Out says 'cosy', I say friendly and welcoming. I travel from Gosport, Hants to Ivor's club, for a consistently excellent line-up, so, guaranteed-aching-sides feelgood. Make time before the show for a good meal at the pub downstairs.
