London's best Apple Day events

Discover the best places to celebrate Apple Day in and around London

‘Apple Day’ was established 22 years ago by charity and lobby group Common Ground to celebrate local communities and pomaceous fruits. The actual date varies between venues.

  • London Orchard Project

    Centre for Wildlife Gardening, 28 Marsden Rd, SE15 4EE (7252 9186/www.wildlondon.org.uk). East Dulwich rail. 11am-4pm Oct 16. Camley Street Nature Reserve, 12 Camley St, NW1 0PW (7833 2311). King’s Cross tube/rail. 11am-9pm Oct 22, 11am-4pm Sun Oct 23.

    The London Orchard Project will be hosting one event on October 16 in Peckham, and two more on October 22 and 23 near King’s Cross. At both events you can expect jam workshops, talks on bees and harvest-themed fun. There will be groups harvesting fruit in the mornings, workshops on looking after fruit trees, Camra-run cider tastings and preserving demonstrations.

  • Spitalfields City Farm

    Spitalfields City Farm, Buxton St, E1 5AR (7247 8762/ www.spitalfieldscityfarm.org). Whitechapel tube/Overground. Noon-4pm Oct 16. Free entry.

    On October 16 this community farm will be celebrating Apple Day with apple tastings, a ‘longest apple peel’ competition, apple-pressing demos plus cakes and chutneys.

  • Green Peppers Orchard

    156 St Paul’s Crescent, NW1 9XZ (7267 9586/ www.maidenlane communitycentre.org). Camden Town tube. 11am-4pm Oct 22. Free entry.

    The Maiden Lane Community Centre in Camden gets local residents involved in nature management on the estate. Apple Day is October 22.

  • Woodlands Farm Trust

    331 Shooters Hill, Welling, DA16 3RP (8319 8900/ www.thewoodlandsfarmtrust.org). Welling rail. 11am-4pm Oct 23. Free entry.

    Based in Welling, Kent, the Woodlands Farm Trust is hosting Apple Day on October 23. There will be live music, honey and apple tastings, apple pressing and produce.
