This year's Diamond Jubilee marks 60 years of the Queen's reign. Elizabeth II came to the throne on February 6 1952, with her coronation taking place on June 2 1953.
In celebration of The Queen's Diamond Jubilee, 2012 sees a double bank holiday taking place in June. The Jubilee bank holidays take place on Monday June 4 and Tuesday June 5. The majority of Jubilee celebrations will take place over the weekend of June 2-5 2012.
Many roads will be closed across the Jubilee weekend so travel by car or bus will be disrupted. Instead travel via rail, tube or DLR, however public transport will be exceptionally busy so be prepared for queueing and potential delays.
Norman Jay MBE, legendary provider of the best Good Times on the planet, has whirled up a very special Jubilee mix ahead of his Good Times Jubilee after-party at the Clapham Grand on June 3. See our listing for more details.

I love the Queen, for the hard work & dedication that she does for the benefit of each and every one of us. I respect her dignity and I wish I had a fraction of her grace & composure. It is easy to forget the unseen millions that she feeds into the economy by visitors & tourism industry, her family act as ambassadors bringing events such as the Olympics to this Country (I do think Manchester would have done it better, even if I do live in Birmingham and was born in London). People are more friendly and "up for it" . So I still say "GOD BLESS THE QUEEN, HER FAMILY" and may they continue the devoted dedication to serve us
