London’s other ones to watch
Jeremy Warmsley
This bespectacled, Anglo-French youth brews a charming blend of
electro-grazed folk-pop that suggests Graham Coxon partnered by Tom
Vek’s myriad ideas. Check out his debut EP ‘5 Interesting Lies’,
released on Transgressive Records.
M Craft
Aussie Martin Craft is a 28-year-old singer-songwriter living in
Dalston who makes deliciously sweet ’n’ soulful modern pop music.
Having released a bunch of singles and EPs, his debut album is due in
March.
The Early Years
Beggars Banquet has just signed this epic space-rock trio. Their
euphoric, hypnotic riffs and Krautrock grooves are inspired by ‘Lazer
Guided Melodies’-era Spiritualized, Neu! and all manner of noisy,
drone-driven post-rock outfits.
Doloroso
Having formed out of the ashes of psych-rockers Simian, this Stoke
Newington-based bunch are turning heads with their impressive brand
of dark, Bowie-tinged
art-pop. Expect an album in the summer.
Captain
This Cambridge quintet moved to London last year and debuted on EMI
with their lush, Bloc Party-styled single ‘Frontline’. They make rather
lovely, soulful and keyboard-employing indie pop with one foot firmly
in the 1980s.
Semi-Finalists
Costume-wearing mates of Mystery Jets, this trio met at film school and
purvey saccharine chamber pop reminiscent of Architecture In Helsinki
with a hint of The Flaming Lips’ early, frenzied psych-punk.
Klashnekoff
He’s been a star of the UK hip hop scene for several years (most
notably popping up on the ‘Run The Road’ compilations), but 2006 should
finally see this Hackney MC release his debut album.
GoodBooks
This Transgressive-signed synth-assisted art-pop trio claim their
influences range from Kraftwerk to Pulp, but they sound more like a
literate, toy instrument-bashing Rapture. Their next single is out in
March.
Boy Kill Boy
Extremely promising Leytonstone rockers whose nuggets of rollocking
indie pop have received favourable comparisons to The Smiths and the
Kaiser Chiefs. Their debut album is out in the spring.
The Feeling
Matt Willis
Sway
The Boy Least Likely To
Plan B
Andrew McCormick
Guillemots
New Young Pony Club

Dear Time out Team,
I am very glad that time out exists and find it one of the most helpful websites for going out in london. But one thing which strikes me is the fact that the ads you guys are putting on your website are more and more taking over the whole window I am looking at. that could even be acceptable. But imagine you are looking for some nice event and then around a 3sq cm patch are at least two moving images which show a TV advertisement for a beer brand or some software solutions. Frankly speaking: how the hell can I still enjoy to look at this site when constantly harrased by stuff which I dont want to see? Will your website one day end up with 80% of the screen occupied by at least 5,6 or seven or even more different advertisement clips ? I know the competition is hard but really , you dont want the time out website to end up being a pinboard with a little bit of nightlife guide at the bottom. Think about that guys...
good luck and best regards Martin
