Oh very clever Time out ! seems it's a clever ploy sending out Free discount cards, only to recieve them as they expire in a few days time! Seems to happen to everyone i know who applies for one! Me and a few others ordered our card three weeks back...and still waiting!

it's fair comment i suppose Antonio, i suppose if my card hadn't arrived i may well have been a bit disgruntled!

I would say that when entering a competition or an offer you are entering in a contract with someone or company...
it is not only by mean of money that you enter in an agreement, so in all the cases it should be legally be always respected.
As said I called Taste London for another trial but they are washing their hand blaming the post office strike...
I am sure there some nice people at Taste London but still their representative answer does not seem a friendly answer or solution.
if I need to blame or take action against someone still need proof from Taste London of 'sent out parcel' date.
I do not work at the post office and it is not in my thoughts...
however everybody as the right to strike ...if u strike means there is a malcontent working condition within a majority of workers ...& they have a right .
I can't really get a membership without the trial...

I can't believe that people are blaming taste London for the postal strikes! How can u expect them to resend something that was free in the first place? it just reiterates that the postal strikes affect everyone, business, individuals, everyone. Maybe you should call up the CWU and tell them you want another trial??!!!!

i don't think you can blame tastelondon for a delay due to postal strike! blame the whining post office workers (city link goes through royal mail btw)...
I have had some really frustrating delays with certain items of my post so we are all suffering - that said, my card came through no probs when i applied for a trial a few months ago and i invested £50 in a years membership. i would highly recommend getting one, they have added quite a of of new restaurants near me lately so i'm loving it!

I just received the 'Taste london membership' valid for a month.
It came in today 29/10/09 but unfortunately I had the displeasure of reading the expiry date: 01/11/2009. Basically in 2 days time.
I called Taste London to explain and ask to send a new card valid for a full month as per competition rules. They said that they sent out the membership maximum within a week from the competition closure. Stating that the delay was due to the Postal strike. I need to mention that on the letter accompanying the memb.card there was no date and also on the envelope itself no date or stamp of dispatch. Upon my request Taste London agent did not want to send any proof/date of their recorded dispatch The letter was also delivered by City Link. Basically we are not able to use the 50% discount which is quite a lot of money if I was deciding, jut me, to go out and dine every day. Taste London should reissue the card for the delayed ones or the post office or City link be responsible for something. Not sure how many out there had the same problem but would be nice to hear your and principally Time Out thought.
Then we see who is from the citizen side or it is all the usual joke...

I was wondering if I order my free trial membership today, when would the free 30 day trial start? would it start when you first use it or when I activated it or what?. Also I live in the states. Can I get the card shipping to be here in the U.S.? I want to use the card when I am there in November, starting on the 24th and will be there for about 9 months or so. So just wondering when would the free trial date start?

Just to let you all know, you don't get the book with your month Free, you have to just use the website. To get the book you have to pay £49.95, you (obvioulsy) also get a full year card. It's a pretty good deal imho, certainly worth trying for a month anyhow. I saved a lot with my 1 month card just at Pizza Express and The Royal India (my local curry house). I am still undecided as to whether or not to take the plunge and go for full blown membership though.

Just to let you all know that Taste London has an automatic renewal! It's in their T&C, so if you don't want it anymore remember to call them up to a week before the expiry date!!!!

I received my membership card about 5 days after applying - I wanted to use the card as soon as I applied, but was told by the restaurant I called that I needed to prove I was a member and so needed my card. Which was fair enough.
So far I've been to The Real Greek with 4 friends. 50% off the total food bill, which saved us over £35. Then I went to Rivington Grill with my boyfriend in Greenwich. Good menu, a little overpriced, but again 50% off.
I've got one week left on my membership after which point I'll be renewing.
