Milton Keynes Central, 45 minutes by train from Euston, is home to the Sno!Zone at Xscape. A 170-metre slope sits beside a smaller beginners’ run, which between them are covered in 15,000 tonnes of fluffy white powder. Rock up and ride from 9am daily, turn tricks at the Thursday and Friday-night snow park freestyle sessions or, if you’re a snow virgin, learn to ski or board in a day. These mysterious, deer-like creatures are just one of the countless species currently living at Whipsnade Wild Animal Park, along with others from pygmy hippos to luminous poison frogs and feisty rock hopper penguins.
