  • B-girls
Breakdancing competitions are nothing new, but female body-poppers have always been notable by their absence. But that doesn’t mean girls can’t hold their own. A burgeoning underground scene has finally burst into the open this year with B Supreme, the UK’s first festival for women in hip hop. The Throwdown warm-up party in Brixton will showcase a one-on-one breakin’ battle, freestyle dance, and sets from the scene’s finest DJs.
Throwdown is at Plan B, 418 Brixton Rd, SW9 7AY (08701 165 421/www.plan-brixton.co.uk) Brixton tube/rail. 8pm-3am. Adm £5. B Supreme is on Sept 22-24 at the South Bank Centre (www.rfh.org.uk). Times vary. Tickets £15. Feature continues

Why not go to the original painting gig at Westbourne Studios in Notting Hill. They do recycled canvases for £30 and it is a way cooler venue. www.fig108.com

£40 is steep and makes me think it might only attract city types, etc (who I'm not necessarily interested in meeting). The materials can't cost much more than a fiver so I'd be expecting a lobster dinner for my money.

I agree with Marcus - I'd love a go at this but it's far too expensive... I would maybe fork out 25 quid.
