    For every 100 people who took a pledge to shape up this January, a staggering 80 per cent will be slumped back on the sofa by March. The key to breaking the three-month motivation barrier is to be realistic about your time commitments and physical capabilities, and – most importantly – to keep the activity interesting. If you’re new to physical exertion, find something you’re genuinely into rather than just pounding a treadmill for the sake of it; if you’re already a fitness fan, step up a gear and get competitive.
