Louise Goldin's slinky knits for Fashion East

Over on the King’s Road and Fashion East, the six-year-old organisation which champions new talent, put on another stellar show. It included second collections for sassy South London born Danielle Scutt and knitwear queen Louise Goldin. Scutt, inspired in part by pedigree dog shows and part by Joan Collins in Dynasty (well, this is London!) showed one of the punchiest shows of the day – her models, striding the runway in spiky heels, skinny skirts, narrow pants and big backcombed hair. Goldin, something of a genius with yarn, spun it in inventive new ways and created slinky miniskirts and dresses as well as fearsome-looking knitted balaclavas which positively rocked. House of Holland's colourful lineup for Fashion East

New to the Fashion East mix was a tongue-in-cheek collection 'One Trick Pony Collezioni' by Henry Holland for his label House of Holland, first featured in Time Out last season. The 23-year-old designer famous for putting slogans on t-shirts – Giles Deacon wore ‘Uhu Gareth Pugh’ when he took his catwalk bow last season – certainly knows how to inject some youthful humour to the scene. The line-up, played to blaring rave music, included numerous new slogans and models wearing bubblegum pink and grass green Kickers. Gulp. Anyone who remembers wearing the mismatching boots to a Big Love rave in 1991 may hope that particular trend stays firmly on the catwalk.

The first day came to a satisfying conclusion with a flourish of colour and print in the form of Manish Arora’s acid trip collection inspired by visions of the future and his native India. The models in their graphic neon bobbed wigs and face paints looked like aliens that had landed via a trip to Rajastan.

Last but not least was the cool and quietly rocky collection by American designer Todd Lynn. His striking blazers with padded shoulders and nipped in waists, will now doubt be seen on many a rock star’s torso come this autumn.

    Gossip of the day
Amy Winehouse spotted at the Elle Style Awards. One onlooker commented, 'Jesus! Her dreads are thicker than her waist.' Meow.

Kate Moss has finally completed her collection for Topshop and just finished styling a look book using an up-and-coming minx-of-a model, Storm’s Irina. The capsule collection, which according to our source, includes ‘all the clothes you need in your wardrobe’ will feature wearable separates from both spring and autumn wardrobes from cute hats to cropped jackets and trousers. We’re betting the bags will be top too. In store from May 1. Keep an eye out in Time Out magazine's Consume section for a sneak preview coming soon.
