    • High-speed trains

It’s rare for Londoners to rave about anything transport related, but Time Out has to make an exception for Southeastern Trains’ Class 395. Kent already had great wine, and now it has a TGV lookalike. Hitting 140mph, it gets from London St Pancras to Ebbsfleet in 17 minutes, Gravesend in 25, or Dover in just over an hour – officially the service launches on December 13, but there are already weekday trains running as a preview. These beauties make commuters happy, and trainspotters orgasmic. Singles from £12.20. Read more

    • Dalston Superstore

      177 Kingsland High St, London, E8 2PB

Opened earlier this year, this is an independent leftfield club, a gallery and a café all rolled into a gay arts space, set up in a former shop. Split over two floors, the interior is all cement and exposed brickwork – with occasional flashes of fluoro or graffiti. It boasts electronic music most nights of the week, very cheap entry and the potential to pull in top name DJs – Erol Alkan has already graced its decks. All in all, a brilliant addition to London clubland. Read more

    • Yalla Yalla

      1 Green's Court, Soho, W1F 0HA

This little Lebanese in Soho is included here not so much for the – admittedly excellent – food, but simply because it’s a beautiful addition to Soho. Seating less than two dozen people, with a striking black and yellow façade, it’s the ideal place for a convivial lunchtime rendezvous. Read more

    • The Papered Parlour

      7 Prescott Pl, London, SW4 6BS

The Papered Parlour hasn’t looked back since opening its doors in May. Catering for the explosion of the craft scene in London, the venue offers a variety of project-based workshops and tutorials (screenprint a bag; make a sock monkey or a dress) for novices as well as crafty enthusiasts. Classes start at £55 for a full day, with an emphasis on using recycled materials wherever possible. Read more

    • The Bathhouse

      5 Bishopsgate Churchyard London, EC2M 3TJ

These gorgeously ornate former Turkish baths date back to 1894. The kooky decor, cosy size and concealed location have caught the eye of many an edgy promoter looking for an exciting and unconventional space. Who could resist the chance to DJ inside a giant gilded birdcage? Warboy’s indie-electro disco Caligula is on Fridays and Rock-A-Billy Rebels on Saturdays. Read more

    • The Invisible Dot

Simon Pearce’s phenomenal company puts on the most interesting comedy nights in town – regular collaborators including Daniel Kitson, Tom Basden and Mark Watson. Their gigs are like secret happenings that everyone wants to be in on, while resident comic poet Tim Key won this year’s Edinburgh Comedy Award. Read more

    • Hurwundecki

      299 Cambridge Heath Rd, E2 9HA, 020 7739 3899

A nipple tassel’s throw from strip joint Metropolis on Cambridge Heath Road and crammed in next to assorted carwashes is vintage clothing chain Hurwundeki’s café-cum-bric-a-brac shop. Inside this unique store, you can drink a coffee and browse an eclectic range of vintage homewares and trinkets. Read more

The only place I can think of is Vin Mag at 39 Brewer Street. Fantastic range of vintage posters and memorabilia.

    Hi Timeout,
Am going to uni in a week and desperate to get some attractive decor for my tiny bare university halls room! I googled to find film posters in London, and came up with this quote
"Tucked away in a Soho sidestreet, this unassuming, cavernous little shop sells a vast array of vintage film posters from across the globe as well as..."
... but on looking on the page the described shop is not detailed! Please help!
