    14 Royal Geographical Society
Founded in 1830 to promote the advancement of of geographical society, the RGS has been located in South Kensington since 1912 and the building famously contains the statues of two notable British explorers by Charles Sargent Jagger on its north and eastern walls. Suitably, beneath the feet of one explorer you will also find a milestone that informs us we are one mile from Hyde Park Corner and nine miles from which west London town?
    Answer

    15 Albert Memorial, Hyde Park

Head across Kensington Gore into Hyde Park and stop to gawp at the amazing Albert Memorial. Within this outrageously gilted and ornate monument to a dead Prince Consort, the manufacturer has placed a group of figures on the south-east corner, the uppermost of which is holding an object that traditionally uses which substance to tell the time?

16 ‘Physical Energy’ by GF Watts, Hyde Park
Head into Hyde Park to find this fine work by a Marylebone-born Victorian painter-sculptor. ‘Physical Energy’ is one of the lesser-known statues in a park full of public art and sits just south of Peter Pan and to the west of Queen Anne’s summer house (now largely used as a public toilet, it seems) in the Kensington Gardens part of Hyde Park, west of the Serpentine. Watts’ original was in Cape Town and is said to be dedicated to Muhammad, Attila, Tamerlane and Genghis Khan, although there’s nothing on the plinth to suggest that’s true. It does, though, feature an inscription to the founder, who shares his name with a men’s clothes shop. What is it?
    Answer

    While you’re there
    Drink: Queen’s Arms
Tucked off the main drag in a little mews is one of the few decent pubs in the area, a good spot to take a break when the feet start to tire.
    Queen’s Arms, 30 Queens Gate Mews, SW7 (020 7581 7741).

    Food: Tootsie’s Grill
If you don’t fancy one of the museum cafés, this excellent family-friendly burger restaurant is within walking distance of our treasure hunt. Alternatively, take a picnic and settle down in Hyde Park.
    Tootsie’s Grill, 107 Old Brompton Rd, SW7 (020 7581 8942).

Kids: Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Playground
Plenty for kids to romp in around here. There are sensory trails, tepees, play sculptures, and the pirate ship as a centrepiece – complete with spinnable ship’s wheel and climbable rigging.
Near Black Lion Gate, Kensington Gardens W8 (020 7298 2117) West End

a while! We did it in teams and it took us the weekend. such good fun!

I think it could all be done over a weekend (Sat and Sun) if you don't hang about and start early each day. Combine it with a river cruise to Greenwich - I went there by bus, but it took forever.

We are hoping to use the traesure hunt shortly but would like some idea of how long the sections (and/or the whole thing) would take? Any experienced hunters out there know?
