  • Six great reasons to visit Zurich

    Freestyle

    1. freestyle.ch
Europe’s biggest freestyle sports event, freestyle.ch is a spectacular contest featuring international stars on snowboards, freeskis, BMX bikes and skateboards. Watch the boys and girls show off daredevil stunts, flips and jumps and try to snatch the prizes. It’s a major social gathering too.
    Zurich Landiwiese, Sep 21– 23

    2. La Suite en Folie
La Suite en Folie is the first Zurich club to take lounging to its horizontal extreme – guests hang out on beds and chat, if inclined, to a soundtrack of easy listening, chill-out electronica with the occasional blast of drum ‘n’ bass to keep people on their toes.

    3. Alpamare
The biggest covered water park in Europe is a soaking wet whirl of slides and rides. The new Tornado experience sends you through a tunnel with light and sound effects until you hit a funnel which spins you round in its vortex. Mellower attractions include thermal baths and saunas.

    4. Kronenhalle
This typically Swiss restaurant has been serving up rösti since 1921 when its regular customers included Stravinsky and Brecht. The walls are covered with original works by Picasso, Braque and Miro, while wood cladding provides its clubby feel. Everyone who’s anyone comes here to tuck in to consistently good Swiss food such as sole and calf’s liver.

    5. Castel Dada

Zurich is all about art and revolution. On Spiegelgasse, a plaque commemorates the Cabaret Voltaire, which founded the Dadaist art movement. Voltaire’s original venue is now this bar – ideal for a serious debate after a stroll round the Kunsthaus (Zurich’s renowned Museum of Fine Arts) and for a beer.
