Be a Big Smoke Batman
Highgate Vampire Walk The
Highgate Vampire was the twentieth century’s answer to Spring-Heeled
Jack. The story involves tall men in hats walking through walls, graves
opening up and people rising from them, blood-drained animals appearing
in Waterlow Park, a headless corpse in Highgate Cemetery and a good
old-fashioned staking. The brisk walk starts at Archway tube every
Friday night and visits all the main sites connected with this
astonishing outburst of public hysteria, culminating in a stop outside
the house which witnessed the final gruesome exorcism in the unassuming
surrounds of Avenue Road, Crouch End. Wear sensible shoes and BYO
garlic.
‘The Ubiquitous Undead: Quest for the Highgate Vampire walk’,
meet at Archway tube, Highgate Hill exit outside the library (020 8368
8161/ www.capitalcuriositieslondonwalks.org.uk) Every Fri 6.45pm. £6,
concs £5.

Pauline Ward and Leo, get a grip!
A swim followed by a picnic on Hampstead Heath? In November? Are you crazy?
ditto the out of date comment; has the "crunch" hit TO so bad it's rehashing stuff already:)
A lot of this stuff seems a bit out of date - i.e. aimed at the summer or happened in June. Why is this on the homepage? I wonder.
What about sampling high culture at Kings Place on York Way N1 which offers free entrance to two art galleries, spoken word and live music (classical, jazz, contemporary, experimental) all from £9.50 online www.kingsplace.co.uk
