6 Kingsland Rd, E2 8DA (020 7739 9110/ www.barprague.com).
Despite its Shoreditch location, Prague Bar has managed to avoid pretentiousness and is an ideal daytime retreat for you and your laptop. The dimly lit space lends itself well to concentrated work or general lounging, and there’s decent coffee and cake to be had.
Print House, 18-22 Ashwin St, E8 3DL (020 7923 1231/ www.cafeoto.co.uk).
Set within a former printworks round the back of Kingsland High Street, Café Oto is the hangout of choice for Hackney leftfield types. Capacious, light and filled with elegantly tatty vintage furniture, it’s easy to imagine how this place could provide creative inspiration. Read more
21 Old Ford Rd, E2 9PL (020 8980 2092/ www.stmargaretshouse.org.uk).
Situated in the basement of a beautiful Georgian terrace and run by St Margaret’s House, a charity organisation that supports community projects and initiatives, The Gallery Café is known for its vegetarian and vegan food as well as its social conscience. Read more
649 Commercial Rd, E14 7LW (020 3119 0047/ www.tinawesalute you.com).
Kitsch, sweet and with a regular revamp thanks to the whitewashed walls which artists go to town on every two months. The tolerant owners allow a single cup of delicious coffee to go a long, long way which means it’s often full of creative types, um, being creative.
Unit 38E, Jubilee Place, 45 Bank St, E14 5NY (020 7512 9191/ www.cafebrera.com).
Although part of a small chain, the Canary Wharf branch of Café Brera is a good alternative to the usual corporate behemoths that dominate the area – if you don’t mind countless business lunches taking place around you, that is.
2-4 Hoxton Square, N1 6NU (020 7613 0709).
A reference point for many Hoxtonites, there are three bar areas, a restaurant and a gig venue here. The signal in the restaurant is weak, but it’s fine in the bar. Read more
83 Rivington St, EC2A 3AY (020 7739 3440/ www.cargo-london.com).
Another Shoreditch stalwart, this converted railway arch is best in the summer when the garden is open and the barbecue is lit. It’s fallen a little into the slipstream of the ever-moving vanguard of trend, but remains an excellent live music venue with a perfectly decent restaurant. Read more
27 Arcola St, London, E8 2DJ (020 7503 1646/ www.arcolatheatre.com).
The Arcola Theatre has made waves since it was founded in 2000 by current artistic director Mehmet Ergen. Working on a shoestring budget (many staff work here for free), it has managed to make a name for itself as one of London’s most exciting fringe venues. You can use the free wi-fi in the theatre bar (food not served). Read more
Silk St, London, EC2Y 8DS EC2 (020 7638 4141/ www.barbican.org.uk).
Designed to accommodate hoards of culture vultures during weekends and evenings, the Barbican is Europe’s largest performing arts centre. The Barbican lies within a wi-fi hotspot, but as the building’s walls are six feet of solid concrete, the signal is sometimes unreliable (although the library on the second floor has internet terminals). You’ll come across young writers, creatives, students and businessmen and women. Read more

Does any one know of any nice places more towards South west London eg Kingston, Wimbledon, Morden. thanks
A great pub called the Cumberland Arms at the end of Northend Road near West Kensington / Barons Court / Hammersmith has free wifi too. Fantastic ales and food and also a great cappuccino for £2.50. Not the cheapest pub you'll find but staff is very friendly and won't make a fuss even if you spend all day there with just a coffee. Highly recommend this place.
WalkIn WiFi is also free and you only have to register once.
Go to their website to see pub with WalkIn :)
Kennedys

anyone know of any nice outside spaces near Camberwell/Peckham that are wifi?
Sarah,
If you sign up to The Cloud in McDog it is free and you can then use The Cloud anywhere where it is used to supply the free WiFi. That includes Wetherspoon (I am posting this from a JDW pub) and some other pubs. The Green Man at Great Portland Street uses The Cloud and is part of a chain so all of theirs are likely to be OK as well.
Phil.
Hello, can anyone tell me, if I sign up to the cloud to use the wifi at mcdonalds or anwhere that has the cloud. Do I need to sign up for a contract and pay them. Not sure.
Barossa in Parsons Green is a great Australian cafe with free wifi
I'm back in the Antipodes for the rest of this year.
On Wellington Waterfront (between Queen's Wharf and Te Papa Museum) there is free wi-fi sponsored by TradeMe, the local equivalent of E-bay. There is talk of extending the free wi-fi across central Wellington by the time of the Rugby World Cup (in September and October).
Seventeen miles from Wellington, the Upper Hutt Public Library has free wi-fi for up to four hours/day, though Wellington Public Library charges for that way of accessing information.
Maybe there is free wifi around Valentines park?
COFFEE CO - Woolwich.
