    Run to a great soundtrack

The streets will be awash with musical and sporting talent on September 27 as Sony Ericsson Run to the Beat returns for a second year. Perfectly marrying music and sport, it will provide a live music and DJ accompaniment for the 12,500 runners – this time delivering new ways to help inspire athletes to train better and beat their personal bests, with the introduction of genre-based running. As Dr Costas Karageorghis (pictured far right), the man responsible for the science behind the event, says: ‘The music will be scientifically selected to lift moods, alleviate fatigue and match the physiological demands.’But what will get those legs going? Last year’s runners chose pop, dance, rock and urban as the best ways to get fired up, and this year as part of the entry
process we’re asking runners to vote for the music they want to hear.
