Your critical guide to arts, culture and going out in the capital

  • The Red Bull Flugtag returns

  • By Time Out editors

  • Those magnificent men are back in their (sort-of) flying machines as the second Red Bull Flugtag splashes down in The Serpentine. Find out how to apply for tickets

  • The infamous Red Bull Flugtag splashes down in London’s Hyde Park for the second time on Saturday June 7. Forty teams of fearless inventors will compete for the coveted winner’s prize, by designing, constructing and flying their man-powered machines into The Serpentine. The winning team will be the one that not only flies the furthest, but also impresses the judges and crowd with their pre-flight performance, design prowess and gravity-defying originality.

Tickets for this crazy flying extravaganza are free, but there are only 80,000 on offer and demand is expected to be, literally, sky-high. Anyone who wants to come along will need to register for the ticket ballot at redbullflugtag.co.uk. The lucky ticket holders can look forward to a veritable feast of invention and downright silliness, as home-made flying machines are launched from a six-metre ramp into the chilly waters below to compete for the coveted title of Red Bull Flugtag Champion 2008. Enter the ticket ballot now !
