    Eddy Temple Morris
How was last year’s festival for you?
Loved it, and phew, what a scorcher!

    What were your highlights?
Digitalism live in that dance tent. Brilliant.

You form the Xfm backbone at Get Loaded with fellow radio show host John Kennedy. Who would win in an arm wrestle between you two?
I'm sure that if it was a brain wrestle John would win hands down, but given I’m about a foot taller I think the leverage alone would ensure victory for me in anything physical.

How did your Xfm show first come about?
I was listening to Tim Lovejoy on Xfm in the day, and he said he was going to deviate from the playlist (naughtily) and play the Jagz Kooner mix of ‘My Beautiful Friend’ by the Charlatans. He didn’t know who Jagz Kooner was, but said Bobby Gillespie was playing drums on it and it was better than the A-side. He was right. It was loads better. And I knew exactly who Jagz was, being a Sabres Of Paradise and Aloof fan. There are then, on the junction of Elgin Avenue and Great Western Road, W10, I had the idea. A show that plays remixes, b-sides, mashups, edits, battleweapons, and represents/champions the unsung production heroes.

What’s your background in the radio world and beyond?
I was a bass player in a bunch of bands, then fell into radio in the early '90s and ended up at Radio One as a producer. Then MTV as a presenter, which was weird as I never wanted to be a presenter.

How would you describe ‘The Remix’ show on Xfm in no more than five words?
Dance music that rocks. Feature continues

Which artists/tracks have been killing it on your show recently?
Empire Of the Sun, King Cannibal, High Rankin, Caspa, Skream, Tommy Sparks, Esser, the Shoes, Alex Metric, the Prodigy.

The Xfm Stage at Get Loaded this year features the likes of Royksopp, Esser, Trip, Pendulum DJ set, Booka Shade and Marina & The Diamonds. Happy with that?
Absolutely delighted! I was the first person in the world to ever play Trip on the radio, and the first in the UK to play Pendulum and probably Esser too.

Which other acts are you looking forward to checking out on the day?
Orbital of course, and Laurent Garnier live should be interesting. He was the first famous DJ ever to support Losers (my production project with Tom from the Cooper Temple Clause)

You have a very successful clubbing off-shoot – ‘The Remix All-Nighter’. Where and when is the next one and whose playing?
July 17, Ladytron, Japanese Popstars and Burn The Negative all live, plus our mutual friend Paul Hartnoll of Orbital DJing alongside Alex Metric, Punks Jump Up, Matrix & Futurebound and some bloke called EddyTM.

Your music has been described as ‘dance slipping an E into Rock’s pint’. Is that a fair statement?
    That is spot on.

Essentially you’re a lover of all things rock and dance?
I love the grey area in between, the one Liam Howlett discovered.

What’s been your favourite album of the year so far?
Empire Of The Sun ‘Walking On A Dream’ closely followed by Esser ‘braveface’

    Who’s the next big thing?
    Othello Woolf.

On the production side you remix with Tom Bellamy from The Cooper Temple Clause under the name ‘Losers’. Your debut album is out this summer. How would you describe your sound?
It’s been described by others as epic, dark, musical. Liam Howlett described it as ‘banging and really accomplished’. I can retire happy now. The word I’d use to describe it is ‘Maximal’.

Ever get bored of the life of a DJ?
    No I love it.

What’s been the best gig of the year so far?
New Year's Eve at the Works in Kingston. I thought the roof was going to blow off at one point!

You’ve been a resident DJ at Manumission in Ibiza. Any amusing tales to report, you must have loads?
I have seen some unmentionable things, I have felt the thud on my back of Barry Ashworth’s head, as he collapsed in the booth after being up for days…I’ve seen the biggest smile ever, from Adam Freeland, in his legendary return to the club that threw him out the previous time he played, and I watched him actually get lost in the booth and have to take over. My proudest moment was getting the same 6am slot as Fatboy Slim: it lasts as long as the crowd do, and I lasted 20 minutes longer!

Are you back in Ibiza this summer?
Yeah, in the back room of Judgement Sunday, it’s fantastic in there, and hopefully returning to Ibiza Rocks for the first time in years.

What are your other summer highlights?
Playing Trash City at Glastonbury: that place is awesome. I lost my mind there last year (after my Sat night set in East Dance tent) and will be keeping it together this time.

    Best festival memory?
Smashing it with other people’s records in the Red Bull tent at Glastonbury five or six years ago, after I lost my record bag.

    Worst festival memory?
Losing my record bag at Glastonbury before my big night, and losing my mind last year in Trash City.

Strangest request from a punter when DJing?
'Can you play your Gallows mix?' (it had never been out, never been promo’d, never been sent to anyone). Or simply ‘where am I?'
