Twenty million people worldwide celebrate Sikh New Year, and as many as 30,000 of them have attended the Trafalgar Square festivities in past years. For 2015, Boris Johnson has announced a shake up for the Vaisakhi festival which will see it move to City Hall and The Scoop at More London where more activities will be able to take place. Expect film screenings, talks, poetry readings and a jam-packed programme of live performances. Family-friendly entertainment includes turban tying, storytelling, singing workshops, musical toy making and the chance to try Langar, specially prepared by Sikh volunteers.
