It’s something of a coup that Jerry Seinfeld has managed to mangle together 90 minutes worth of semi-decent bee jokes for his feature-writing debut. Alas, it’s probably the only noteworthy aspect in this otherwise waxen slab of digitally animated anthropomorphism which is little more than a series of loosly linked sketches with the odd celebrity cameo (does Sting count?) squeezed into the process for adult viewers. Seinfeld lends his shrill but solipsistic ‘Noo Yoik’ drawl to the voice of Barry B Benson, a sprightly honeybee determined to break free from the punchclock tedium of hive life in order to experience the outside world. In doing so, he makes the shock discovery that humans harvest and consume the honey which so many of his bee brethren have toiled to produce. He decides to file a lawsuit against the entire human race.

Where a film like ‘Ratatouille’ had the good grace to counterbalance some of its more far-fetched plot machinations with a surfeit of wit and wisdom, ‘Bee Movie’ piles up the big asks without once stopping to offer the point to all of this. Passes the time, but undoutedly one for the little ’uns.

  • Distinctly light entertainment, but still entertaining, with potenial for all. The ending is quite odd to say the least: Bee's go on holiday, ecosystem of the world collapses; Bee's change thier mind. Sadly this film worked up until this point where it doesn't seem to have a real way to end things (the bees could've settled). Better than some of the kids movies out there, but sadly not a classic.

  • Personally I think it was a really good idea with a few funny bits but really it lacked any decent plot or sense of direction. Definitely one for the under 10's.

  • I have seen this film twice (because I work at the cinema) And I personally think that it is hilarious! There are plenty of jokes and if you are not an adult who has lost their sense of humour, you will love it! Geri - 18

  • I agree with Lulu. I also have to say , this film is for younger children really and not what an adults going to apreciate. IS IT !!. So younger children or should i say infants or going to like it better arent they ???? So stop acting so brainless and start acting like adults.

  • Firstly I,d like to say I am a big fan of animated films and think that shrek set a new level from which all others should follow. The film seemed to be just thrown together with nothing but countless bee jokes. As previously mentioned there was no adventure no well thought out plot line and nothing to keep either the children or the adults entertained for long at all. I was very disappointed with the entire film and would say to anybody interested in watching this film please just go and rent ratatouie, shek, simpsons, monsters inc, finding nemo or even a good disnet film because this is not in the same league.
