Time Out says

Pretty typical Alistair MacLean adventure with all the usual failings: minimal characterisation, terrible dialogue, too much plot, and too little real, inherent dynamism as opposed to weightily set up action pieces. This one manages to combine a basic Ten Little Indians plot with murder on a train à la Orient Express, set in the old West.
