Time Out says

This remake of ’70s Spanish horror film Who Can Kill a Child? is less a contemporary upgrade than an eagerly creaky exploitative throwback. A proverbially clueless Western couple (Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Vinessa Shaw), vacationing in a remote Mexican village, motorboat to an even more secluded island—which is run by diabolically murderous kids. Even by the low standards of scary-movie plausibility, mononymous first-timer Makinov exhibits brazenly little interest in psychologically grounding his story. Yet there’s something uncanny about witnessing evil youngsters attack elders with machetes to the belly and turning severed heads into playtime hot potatoes. The horror is that, given the indignities of childhood, it somehow feels oddly justified.
