Broadcast live from the London Coliseum, David Alden's staging of Benjamin Britten's searing psychological drama stars Australian heldentenor Stuart Skelton in the title role. Peter Grimes is a fisherman, who lives in a small coastal fishing in Suffolk. His young apprentice disappears at sea and gossipmongers in the close-knit community point the finger of suspicion at Peter. Following intense questioning in court, Peter is released without charge but the locals subject him to a hate campaign, which unhinges his already fragile state of mind.
