Time Out saysHideous schmaltz, all lyrical slow motion and soft focus, in which a fourteen-year-old French girl (Alvina) and a fifteen-year-old English boy (Bury) run away from their respective unhappy homes to the Camargue (complete with wild horses). There, in a cosy cottage, they play at marriage, have a baby, and almost manage to live happily ever after in their Garden of Eden. Complete with Elton John on the soundtrack. Yuck.
