From a young fan’s point of view, this 3D presentation of the US boy trio’s popular 2008 gigs at Madison Square Garden delivers in spades. The group’s devoted sub-teen fanbase get to see their Disney-spawned idols Kevin, Joe and Nick up close, on stage, back stage, in interview, mucking about in a Beatles/Monkees style, even  being raised from slumber by their trusty forklift truck of a minder. They not only play a wide selection of their hits (at least, I think they’re hits) but also a new song called ‘Love Is on Its Way’. The fans will love it. And, what’s more, it’s nicely timed to coincide with the group’s new album in June.

So what’s it like from the point of view of an accompanying adult? Have you ever inadvertently thrust your face into a meat processor? I imagine Bruce Hendricks’s film is only marginally less painful. Everything, including the purple-colour tint, the 3D effects and the overall structure, appears to have been taken from his earlier ‘Hannah Montana’ film. The sound quality is iffy, with so much harsh instrumentation in the mix that one can barely decipher the lyrics – which is probably just as well. Meanwhile, Nick, Joe and Kevin strut their contrived stuff over an expansive, elaborate stage set and pull off every naff pop cliché in the book, while outside sequences show the fans being herded like cattle. These songs wash over in waves of such turgid mediocrity that by the end you’re praying for it to stop. Thankfully, after 76 minutes, it does – and all is well again.

  • Jonas Brothers suck. The reviewer doesn't like them because he is not a retarded 12yr old girl. You all need to die.

  • I agree too with Sarah, People go on about how rubbish the Jo Bros are but then again they are being described as a ‘boy band sensation’, so who’s incorrect not most of the world but the petty little opinions and pathetic sarcastic comments from a under paid reviewer. See I understand that its your job to point out the bad bits out of a film, so I guess that’s why everybody hates you right? Yes. I also think it’s really petty how you say ‘by the end you’re praying for it to stop. Thankfully, after 76 minutes, it does – and all is well again’, when they are only aged 16 – 21, they are kids, seriously give them a break, they have not been in this business all their lives and they are not professional film makers. Jonas Brothers are fantastic and reviewers like you should not try to sabotage their reputation, keep the good work up boys.

  • I love how people go on about how rubbish these guys are. if they were so rubbish then how the hell would they be as big as they are? your so called role models haven't got a patch on the jonas brothers. i'm sure you love britney spears and christina aguilara? they all made famous the exact same way. through disney channel. so if you think that they are just a disney channel factory band. then think again. the movie is amazing and if you actually went to the cinema and watched it i'm sure you'd agree.

  • I love how people who haven't seen the film have taken the time to critisize it. If you actually read the review it says how its aimed at young children. It's nice to know that the older generation have decided to rant about how pathetic you think the jonas brothers are. personally i think they are fab. and this movie portrays them amazingly. its so real. i'd like to see some of your favourite bands try and pull it off as wel as these have. Kudos to the jonas brothers :) you sexy mofo;s.
