Time Out says

Like the rocket in question, this soppy farce has great difficulty in getting off the ground. Jules Verne had little to do with the proceedings, which involve a large star cast getting repeatedly blown up. Reminiscent of First Men in the Moon (even to the extent of Lionel Jeffries playing the irascible inventor in both films), but there's no comparison entertainment-wise.
