Time Out says

Zed (Stoltz) arrives in Paris to participate in a bank robbery at the invitation of an old friend, Eric (Anglade). A professional safecracker, he's swept up in a maelstrom of sex and drugs which turns to blood and guts when the robbery goes wrong. Avary's crooks make his pal Quentin Tarantino's reservoir dogs look like Cary Grant - this is a grotesquely sleazy, brutal, bloody crime flick. Not a particularly interesting one, though. Utterly unedifying.
